Rishika Singh not doing item song for Katari Veera Surasundarangi

It was not long ago when Rishika Singh told a tabloid that she is not interested in doing item numbers adding that she is not even interested in doing cameos. But now it seems that she has forgotten what she has said earlier. Her role in Upendra’s Katari Veera Surasundarangi, at least proves so. This film starring Ramya and Upendra in the lead roles has an item number of Rishika Singh.

But Rishika, who is back in Bangalore after shooting for the song in Hyderabad, doesn’t seem to want to call it that. “I wouldn’t call it an item number. I would rather call it a ‘special’ number,” says Rishika.

This song in question is written by Upendra and feature Suman Ranganathan and Ramanithu Chaudhary. “There is a sequence that appears just before the song. Ambareesh is Yama, and Upendra tells him that he has better girls than Ramba, Urvashi and Menaka. During this conversation, he introduces us and this is followed by the song,” she explains.

However ask Rishika about her previous claim that she couldn’t carry off solo numbers as guest appearances for other films? She says, “I did say that, but I just couldn’t refuse the opportunity of working with someone like Upendra. He called me after he saw my song in Kalla Malla Sulla. He appreciated my work in that film and asked me if I could do a song in Katari Veera! It was too enticing an offer to reject.”

The actress is also excited about her new venture which happens to be a Kannada film. Sharing screen space with Mallika Sherawat and doing a heroine oriented film can make anyone happy. Moreover she is taking lessons in martial arts as a demand of her role.

“The film is completely on my shoulders and I feel blessed that I have got this offer at such an early stage in my career. There are a lot of fight sequences in this film and I am taking martial arts lessons now. I can’t wait for the shoot to begin,” she signs off.
